Surfskate Trucks
How Do Surfskate Trucks Work?
Surfskate trucks are arguably the most crucial component in generating that surf-like sensation when riding your surfskate. These trucks allow for short and quick turns, providing a distinct experience compared to skateboard and longboard trucks.
With this truck system, most of the turning is handled by the front truck. Surfskate front trucks feature a unique design that includes either a swivel plate and a bushing or a specialized bushing system. Depending on the design, some trucks are perfect for surf training, while others excel at making fun carves down the sidewalk.
Surfskating is a relatively new sport, and every brand in the market is continuously developing new truck systems to offer the most authentic surf feel on the road.
How Tight Should Surfskate Trucks Be?
The choice is yours, but the tightness of your trucks greatly affects your ride. Tighter trucks provide a more solid and stable feeling. If you're new to surfskating, it's recommended to start with tighter trucks and gradually loosen them over time. Looser trucks offer a more agile and responsive ride, as well as an easier pump. Adjusting the tightness of your trucks is straightforward and can be done with most skate tools or an Allen key.
