Wayward Wheels originated thanks to two professional skaters and friends, Benny Fairfax and Andrew Brophy. Their paths first crossed in London at the outset of their professional skating careers. Several years later, they reconnected in Los Angeles with a shared vision to launch their own skate brand. With neither of them having a wheel sponsor at the time, it was an ideal opportunity, leading to the creation of Wayward skateboard wheels.

Since its inception, the company has garnered acclaim for its top-notch urethane wheels along with distinctive designs and colourways. Andrew Brophy mentions that much of the inspiration for the logo, graphics, and colour combinations is drawn from car racing and the 1980s.
